Tulane University athletes began competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday. The first day of events at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility saw notable performances from members of the Tulane Green Wave men’s and women’s track and field teams.
Zaria Parker won the women’s 200 meters with a personal-best time of 24.27 seconds, which now stands as the fifth-fastest time in Tulane program history. Cara Salsberry finished third in the women’s weight throw, recording a distance of 17.80 meters—just short of the school record—and her performance is now ranked second all-time for Tulane.
In other results from the women’s weight throw, Quin Tandeih achieved a personal best with a throw of 13.37 meters to place 15th overall.
On the track, Elena Liano-Rengel secured sixth place in the women’s 1,000 meters with a new personal best time of 2:50.36. Reese Ragland finished just outside the top ten in that event, placing 11th with a time of 2:54.78.
For Tulane’s men’s team, Samuel Cohen led by placing 13th in the men’s 1,000 meters and set a new personal best with his time of 2:29.23. Jalen St. Fort placed 18th at 2:32.77.
The Vanderbilt Invitational will conclude on Saturday and can be viewed live via SECN+ streaming service.
