The Tulane baseball team defeated Northwestern State 2-0 on March 18, earning its second consecutive victory and returning to a .500 record at 11-11. The game took place at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
This win is significant as it marks Tulane’s continued momentum, improving their all-time record against Northwestern State to 21-4. The shutout was the first for Tulane since last season’s game against Memphis.
Jude Abbadessa secured the win with four scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing two hits. J.D. Rodriguez started the game, pitching three innings with three strikeouts and two hits allowed. Tom Vincent, Julius Ejike-Charles, and LuisPablo Navarro also contributed from the bullpen, with Navarro earning his first save of the season by recording two strikeouts in the ninth inning.
Offensively, Johnny Elliott led Tulane with two hits. Kaikea Harrison added a hit and an RBI, while Matthias Haas drove in a run with a ground out. Jason Wachs extended his on-base streak to 48 games dating back to last season, reaching base twice during the contest.
Tulane scored both runs in the bottom of the seventh inning through contributions from Haas and Harrison. Jacob LeBlanc took the loss for Northwestern State after giving up both runs in that frame.
Looking ahead, Tulane will open conference play by hosting Memphis for a three-game series from March 20 to March 22 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
