The Tulane baseball team lost 2-1 to Creighton on March 14 at Green Field at Turchin Stadium. The defeat brings Tulane’s record to 9-10, while Creighton improves to 7-8.

The loss came after Tulane allowed two runs in the first inning, which proved decisive as the team was unable to overcome the early deficit. Jack Frankel started for Tulane and took the loss, giving up two runs over 3.2 innings with five strikeouts. The bullpen kept the game close by pitching 5.1 scoreless innings, with Blaise Wilcenski, Jack Brafa, and Beau Sampson all contributing.

Tye Wood led Tulane’s offense with two hits. Nate Johnson reached base four times with three walks and a hit, also scoring the team’s only run. Johnny Elliott drove in that run with a double in the fourth inning. Jason Wachs, Tanner Chun, and Kaikea Harrison each added a hit for Tulane.

Despite totaling seven hits and seven walks, Tulane struggled with runners in scoring position, going hitless in eight such opportunities. JT Adams earned the win for Creighton by throwing 3.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Jason Wachs extended his on-base streak to 45 games dating back to last season. The current four-game losing streak is Tulane’s longest since last year when they lost five straight from March 25 to April 1. This weekend series loss marks only the second time this season that Tulane has dropped a weekend series.

Tulane will play the third game of its series against Creighton on Sunday, March 15 at noon.
