The Tulane baseball team lost to LSU by a score of 13-6 on Tuesday, May 5, at Alex Box Stadium. This marks the fourth consecutive loss for Tulane and concludes their non-conference schedule for the season.
The outcome is significant as it continues a challenging stretch for Tulane, who have struggled on the road and against LSU in recent years. The Green Wave has not beaten LSU since the 2018 season and has not won in Baton Rouge since 2016.
LuisPablo Navarro started for Tulane but was unable to record an out, giving up three runs on two walks and a hit. He was one of ten pitchers used during the game. Jack Brafa allowed three runs (two earned) in his inning of work, while Jude Abbadessa gave up three runs in just a third of an inning. Other pitchers including Jacob Moore, Julius Ejike-Charles, Jake Toproek, Aidan Rath, Caden Tarango, Tom Vincent, and Trey Cehajic also saw time on the mound.
Jason Wachs led Tulane’s offense with three hits and three RBIs including his seventh home run of the season. Johnny Elliott contributed two hits along with a run scored and an RBI. Nate Johnson hit his fourth home run of the year as part of Tulane’s six-run effort.
LSU took control early with six runs in the first inning highlighted by Cade Arrambide’s two-run homer. The Tigers added three more runs in the second before Tulane got on board with an RBI double from Wachs in the third inning. Despite back-to-back RBI doubles from Elliott and Harrison in the fourth followed by Wachs’ home run in the fifth narrowing LSU’s lead to four runs at one point, LSU maintained their advantage throughout.
Tulane returns home next to face South Florida for a three-game conference series starting Friday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
