The Tulane baseball team secured a 12-7 victory against UTSA on Sunday afternoon, April 26, at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The Green Wave scored five runs in the first inning and added seven more in the final three frames to overcome their opponent.
This result matters as it brings Tulane’s record to 22-23 overall and 8-10 in American Athletic Conference play, while UTSA falls to 29-14 overall and 12-6 in conference games. The win highlights Tulane’s ability to rally late in games and maintain competitiveness within the conference.
Tom Vincent earned the win for Tulane by pitching two scoreless innings with three walks and two strikeouts. J.D. Rodriguez started for Tulane, allowing four hits and three runs over four-and-a-third innings. Sam Larson closed out the game with his fourth save of the season, pitching two-and-a-third innings with just one hit allowed.
Jason Wachs contributed significantly on offense with two hits, three RBIs—including his sixth home run of the season—and scored twice. Kaikea Harrison drove in three runs with his fourth home run of the year, while Hugh Pinkney added a two-run homer. Other contributors included James Agabedis, who scored twice; Tye Wood; Matthias Haas; Evan Burg; Johnny Elliott; Brett Rowell; Tanner Chun; and Nate Johnson.
UTSA took a brief lead after a six-run fifth inning but was overtaken by Tulane’s late offensive surge. Harrison gave Tulane the lead for good in the sixth inning with his third home run of the season.
Looking ahead, Tulane will finish its homestand by hosting No.16 Southern Miss on Tuesday, April 28 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
