The Tulane baseball team will travel to Boca Raton, Florida, for a three-game conference series against Florida Atlantic from April 17-19. The Green Wave, currently holding a 20-18 overall record and a 6-6 mark in the American Athletic Conference, are coming off a successful stretch that included two wins over East Carolina University and an 8-4 midweek victory against Southeastern Louisiana.
This series is important as both teams look to improve their positions within the conference standings. Tulane aims to build on recent momentum, while Florida Atlantic seeks to rebound after breaking a six-game losing streak with last weekend’s road series win over Memphis.
Tulane’s pitching rotation for the weekend includes graduate student Trey Cehajic starting Friday. Cehajic has started nine games this season with a record of 2-3 and an ERA of 7.75 across 38 innings pitched. On Saturday, left-hander Jake Toporek is scheduled to start; he holds a 1-2 record with a strong ERA of 2.70 in his fifteenth appearance this year. The Sunday starter for Tulane will be determined based on pitcher usage during the first two games.
Florida Atlantic will counter with sophomore James Litman on Friday (5-3 record, 4.25 ERA), redshirt sophomore Kide Adetuyi on Saturday (1-2 record), and freshman Garrett Grant on Sunday (1-3 record). Offensively, Michael Perazza leads FAU with a .339 batting average while John Martinez has tallied the most RBIs (27) and hits (44) for the Owls.
Recent highlights for Tulane include Jason Wachs extending his impressive form at bat—he hit .429 over his last five games—and notable performances from Tye Wood (.316 average) and Matthias Haas (five RBIs). The Green Wave pitching staff has not allowed a triple in its last fifty games spanning back to May of last season.
In historical matchups between these programs, Tulane leads the all-time series against Florida Atlantic six games to three—all played within the past two years. Last season saw each team take victories both at home and away during regular season play and tournament action.
Following this weekend’s series at FAU Baseball Stadium, Tulane will remain on the road for another contest against No. 20 Southern Miss scheduled for Tuesday.
