The Tulane baseball team will play a neutral site game against No. 3 Mississippi State on March 10 at Kessler Federal Park in Biloxi, Mississippi. The matchup is set for a 6 p.m. start and marks the fourth consecutive game for Tulane against a ranked opponent.
This contest is significant as it continues Tulane’s challenging stretch of games against top-ranked teams, following a weekend series with No. 17 TCU. Both teams are coming into the game with strong records: Tulane stands at 9-7 while Mississippi State holds a 14-2 record.
Tulane will start junior right-handed pitcher Jack Brafa, who has posted a 1-0 record and a 4.00 ERA over nine innings this season, striking out thirteen batters and holding opponents to a .167 batting average. Mississippi State will counter with left-hander Charlie Foster, who has struck out twelve in six and two-thirds innings with a 4.05 ERA.
Mississippi State enters the game highly ranked in all four major polls and recently swept Lipscomb by an aggregate score of 43-7. The Bulldogs’ only losses have come against then-No.1 UCLA and then-No.10 Southern Miss by just two runs combined.
The Green Wave have several players performing well recently, including Hugh Pinkney hitting .444 over the last five games and Jason Wachs maintaining a streak of reaching base safely in all sixteen games this season. Tulane also leads the American Conference in doubles so far this year.
Historically, Mississippi State leads the all-time series against Tulane by seventy-seven wins to thirty-four since their first meeting in 1904, though Tulane won two out of three games when they last met in 2022.
Looking ahead, Tulane will return home after this matchup to host Creighton University from March 13 to March 15 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
