The Tulane baseball team will return home to face Nicholls in a non-conference matchup on March 31 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ as well as the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield.

This game marks an opportunity for both teams, who currently hold identical records of 14-15, to improve their standings after recent conference play. For Tulane, it follows a three-game series against UAB in Birmingham, Alabama.

Nicholls comes into the contest after losing two out of three games over the weekend against Northwestern State. Offensively, Caston Thompson leads the Colonels with a .340 batting average and eight home runs this season. Other key contributors include Nico Rijo-Berger and Greyson Shafer, while Tyler Avery has been effective on the mound with a 0.98 earned run average across eleven appearances.

Tulane leads the all-time series with Nicholls by a margin of 69-28 and won all three meetings last year but lost earlier this season by one run when playing away. This matchup is also part of Tulane’s seven-game slate against Southland Conference opponents this year; they currently have a record of one win and two losses in those games so far.

Several Green Wave players are entering Tuesday’s contest with notable streaks or performances: Jason Wachs has reached base safely in all 29 games this season, while Nate Johnson is hitting .356 when starting and Kaikea Harrison leads with ten multiple-run scored games. On the pitching side, Jack Brafa holds a perfect earned run average over four innings pitched recently.

Looking ahead, Tulane will begin another road conference series at Wichita State from April 2-4 following Tuesday’s game.
