The Tulane Green Wave women’s bowling team was eliminated from the Conference USA Bowling Championship after a close match against Sam Houston on March 20. The event took place at Colonial Lanes in Harahan, Louisiana, where Tulane, ranked 17th and seeded 11th, faced off against the eighth-seeded and ninth-ranked Bearkats.
This result marks the third consecutive season that Tulane has finished with a 1-2 record in the championship. The team’s only win came against defending national champion Youngstown State. By tying for seventh place out of twelve teams, Tulane matched its best-ever finish in the CUSA Championship since joining the conference in 2024.
In Friday’s traditional match, Sam Houston defeated Tulane with a score of 1,030-944. Juanelyz Solla led Tulane with a score of 202, while Paige Matiasek and Mia Stolakis followed closely behind with scores of 198 and 194 respectively. Sarah Rubi scored 179 and Linnea Holcomb added 171 points to the team’s total.
During the Baker match, Tulane rallied after falling behind early but ultimately could not hold off Sam Houston’s comeback. After leading by 25 pins going into the final game, Tulane lost momentum as Sam Houston secured victory with a strong finish to win the mega-match two games to none.
Despite being eliminated from the conference tournament, Tulane’s season may continue depending on selection for an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA selection show is scheduled for March 25. If selected, regionals will take place April 3-4. Regardless of NCAA selection results, Tulane has already earned a spot in the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships set for April 16-18 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
