The Tulane Green Wave women’s bowling team, currently ranked 17th in the nation, is set to compete at the TNBA Open in Baton Rouge this weekend. The event, hosted by The National Bowling Association and Jackson State, will take place at All Star Lanes from February 27 through March 1.

Tulane is one of three nationally ranked teams participating in the tournament, joining No. 14 Sam Houston and No. 23 Central Missouri. Other competitors include Alabama State, Grambling, Oklahoma Christian, Southern, and host Jackson State.

The competition begins Friday with five sets of Baker matches starting at 10:35 a.m. Saturday’s schedule includes five traditional games beginning at 10:25 a.m., followed by Sunday’s bracket play featuring three best-of-seven Baker matches starting at 8:55 a.m.

Earlier this month, Tulane placed 15th at the Flyer Classic. Despite that result, the team maintained its position as No. 17 in the latest NTCA Coaches Poll. Recently, Tulane was assigned to compete in the Fort Worth sectional of the USBC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals scheduled for March 14-15. Qualifiers for the Intercollegiate Singles Championships will also be held there on March 13. Teams and individuals advancing from these sectionals will move on to national championships in Green Bay, Wisconsin in April.

Internationally, two Tulane bowlers represented Puerto Rico earlier this month at the International Friendship Youth Bowling Championship in Doha, Qatar. Valeria Colon earned a bronze medal in doubles and finished ninth overall after reaching the masters portion of the event.

Before heading to sectionals next month, Tulane will participate in another tournament—the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University—from March 6 to March 8 in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Tickets for upcoming men’s and women’s basketball and baseball games are available by phone or online through TulaneTix.com or directly at the James W. Wilson Jr. Center ticket office.
