Tulane University head bowling coach Hayley Veitch announced on April 8 the signing of Vicky Lizarazo to the Green Wave team for the 2026-27 campaign. Lizarazo, who is from Bogota, Colombia, will join Tulane as a freshman after graduating from Colegio Gimnasio Yacard.
Lizarazo has a strong background in bowling in Colombia and has competed in both junior national and second division national competitions. She has represented Colombia internationally as part of several age-group teams, including U-12 through U-21. In 2025, she earned multiple medals at various events: silver in singles and teams at the Second Division Nationals, gold in teams all event, gold in mixed doubles at the U-21 National, silver in women’s doubles, and additional medals at Junior Nationals.
Her first international medal came when she won gold in singles at the 13th International Friendship Youth Bowling Championship held in Qatar while she was just 16 years old. She also took home bronze medals for masters and all events categories during that tournament. Later that year at the South American Youth-Senior-Super Senior Championship in Lima, Peru, Lizarazo tied for first place but received silver in singles and won gold with her partner in women’s doubles. The Colombian team secured silver overall with contributions from both Vicky and her younger sister Gabriella.
Lizarazo’s favorite athlete is Rocio Restrepo of Colombia. Outside of sports, she enjoys playing piano, reading books, and listening to music. She plans to major in chemical engineering at Tulane with an aim to become a food engineer focused on creating healthier foods.
The addition of Lizarazo brings Tulane’s incoming class for next season to two student-athletes; Malia Briggs signed earlier with the team last November. The current squad is ranked seventeenth nationally and will compete next week at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship to conclude their season.
