The Tulane Green Wave women’s bowling team completed the first day of competition at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships on April 16 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Tulane earned the No. 11 seed after morning qualification and finished the day with one win and one loss in bracket play.

The event began with each of the sixteen teams playing twenty-four Baker games for qualification. Tulane scored a total of 4,278 pins, placing them eleventh overall going into bracket play. The team’s performance included an initial block score of 2,196 pins that put them in seventh place halfway through qualification.

In the double-elimination bracket portion, which uses a best-of-seven Baker format, Tulane competed in the blue bracket as the eleventh seed. The team faced sixth-seeded Lindenwood in their opening match and won a close contest by a score of four games to three. In their second match against McKendree University—the fourteenth seed and ranked fifteenth nationally—Tulane lost four games to one after McKendree took an early lead.

Despite this defeat, Tulane remains in contention through the losers’ bracket. The team is scheduled to compete again tomorrow morning against either Trine or Cumberland University for a chance to advance further in the tournament.

Tickets for upcoming men’s and women’s basketball and baseball events are available by phone or online through Tulane’s ticket office. Supporters can follow updates about Tulane bowling on social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
