The Tulane bowling team, ranked No. 17, was eliminated from the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships after a 4-1 loss to Cumberland on Apr. 17 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
This marks the end of the season for Tulane, which had advanced to the second day of competition at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley. The match began with Tulane securing a narrow victory in game one but saw Cumberland win four straight games to claim the overall best-of-seven Baker match.
On the first day of play, Tulane earned the No. 11 seed following qualifying rounds and went 1-1 in early bracket action. This result placed them in the losers’ bracket where they awaited their next opponent after a matchup between Cumberland and Trine.
Cumberland’s win over Trine set up their contest with Tulane. After taking an early lead with a 177-170 win, Tulane could not maintain momentum as Cumberland won subsequent games with scores of 183-181, 230-189, and 202-185 before closing out the series with a decisive 234-176 victory.
With this defeat, Tulane concludes its campaign for the current season and will look ahead to preparations for competition beginning again in fall for the next academic year.
