Tulane University announced on Apr. 27 the extension of Adrian Myers’ contract as Director of Cross Country and Track & Field through the 2030-31 season.
The decision to extend Myers’ contract comes after a period of notable achievements for Tulane’s cross country and track & field programs under his leadership. The university highlighted his role in elevating the teams’ competitive performance since he took over in summer 2021.
Since joining Tulane, Myers has led the Green Wave to four American Conference team championships and two appearances at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships. Last fall, the men’s team finished 21st at nationals, followed by a 28th place finish in 2024. Both men’s and women’s teams also reached their highest-ever national rankings from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association last fall—17th for men and a first-ever ranking of 25th for women.
The four conference titles (2023 Women’s Cross Country, 2024 Men’s Cross Country, 2025 Women’s Indoor Track & Field, and 2025 Women’s Cross Country) marked Tulane’s first since winning the Conference USA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship in 2001. These are also more than any other Green Wave head coach since Tulane joined its current league during the 2014-15 school year.
Under Myers’ guidance, Tulane won its first NCAA South Central Regional men’s cross country title in 2025—the first time a school other than Arkansas or Texas captured that victory—and secured top-three finishes on the women’s side for two consecutive years. He has been named USTFCCCA Coach of the Year three times while helping staff earn four American Conference Staff of the Year honors.
“Adrian’s vision and commitment have been instrumental in building a competitive and nationally recognized program,” said David Harris, Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair at Tulane. “We are excited to extend his contract and are confident that he will continue to lead Tulane’s cross country and track & field programs to new levels of success.”
Myers thanked university leadership for their support: “I would like to thank President Michael A. Fitts, David Harris, and Justin Schemmel (Tulane’s Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer and Cross Country/Track & Field sport administrator) for offering and extending my opportunity to lead this program,” Myers said. “I believe we are only beginning to see what can be achieved here at Tulane in Cross Country and Track & Field… We are just getting started, and I am incredibly excited to see what we can accomplish.”
Looking ahead, student-athletes from Tulane will compete at both the Alumni Muster in College Station, Texas, as well as at LSU Invitational events.
