The Tulane Green Wave women’s track and field team finished fifth at the American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship held at the Birmingham Crossplex. The team led after the first day of competition but was unable to maintain its position on the final day, ending with a total of 63 points. Last season, Tulane had won the conference championship.

North Texas secured the title with 90 points. Charlotte finished second with 82 points, followed by Rice with 77, and East Carolina with 69.

Two Tulane athletes earned silver medals during Saturday’s events. Elena Liano-Rengel took second place in the mile, clocking a time of 4:49.08. Reese Ragland finished just outside the podium in fourth place with a time of 4:51.81 in the same event. Blezzin Kimutai, who won gold in Friday’s 5,000 meters, added a silver medal in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:26.18.

Other notable performances included Jasper Newton placing sixth in the 800 meters final (2:11.09), Zaria Parker finishing eighth in the 200 meters final (24.36), and Cara Salsberry also taking eighth place in the weight throw (16.99m).

With the indoor season concluded, Tulane will begin its outdoor track and field campaign on March 20 at the Louisiana Classics meet in Lafayette, Louisiana.
