Tulane University sailing finished fifth among 12 teams at the Dellenbaugh Women’s Team Race, which took place over the weekend of March 29. The event was hosted by Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
The result highlights Tulane’s performance against strong competition from across the region. The team posted a 7-9 record during the two-day regatta.
On Saturday, Tulane started with a 6-5 record in the first round. The Green Wave earned wins over Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Tufts, and College of Charleston to advance into Sunday’s Top 6 Gold round. In that final stage of competition, Tulane added one more victory by defeating Yale and ultimately secured fifth place overall.
The team included skippers Oakley Cunningham, Ava Anderson, and Gabriela Vassel alongside Hope Breslin, Ella May Corckran, Cate Anderson, Caitlin Briggs, and Charlotte Casey. Together they contributed to Tulane’s seven total wins for the weekend.
Looking ahead, Tulane will host three separate competitions at home from April 2 to April 5 on Lake Pontchartrain. These include the SEISA Team Race Conference Championships on Thursday and Friday as well as the Tulane Women’s Team Race and a Triad Scrimmage against Stanford on Saturday and Sunday.
