The Tulane Green Wave defeated the New Orleans Privateers 5-2 on March 17 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, reclaiming the Pelican Cup. Tulane scored four runs in the first inning and maintained their lead throughout the game.

The opening inning saw Kaikea Harrison double, followed by Tanner Chun being hit by a pitch. Four consecutive walks brought in three runs for Tulane, and Brett Rowell added another with an RBI groundout. The Privateers responded by bringing in Luke Hymel, who limited Tulane’s offense over the next five innings, allowing only two hits and two walks.

New Orleans managed to score in the fifth inning when Evan Rogers executed a delayed double steal, allowing Dylan Biddick to reach home plate. In the seventh inning, Kareh Valentin singled to bring in Eddie Castillo, narrowing the gap to 4-2. However, Tulane extended their lead later that inning as Nate Johnson singled to right field, scoring Harrison for a final score of 5-2.

Sam Larson pitched 2.1 innings for Tulane and struck out five batters before handing off to Beau Sampson, who recorded his first save of the season with a strikeout to end the game. For New Orleans, Owen Smith went 2-for-4 with two singles while Miles Curley contributed a double. Tyler Velino pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and Skylar Jones threw a scoreless eighth inning.

The Privateers are scheduled to play against ULM on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
