Tulane University featured Crystal Singh, a 2022 graduate and former member of the Tulane Green Wave women’s bowling team, in its alumni spotlight on May 7. Singh, who double majored in English and philosophy at Tulane, is now an attorney practicing land use development law in Miami.

The university says that highlighting alumni like Singh demonstrates the diverse paths graduates can take after their time as student-athletes. According to the release, Singh chose Tulane for its academic reputation and the unique culture of New Orleans. She said, “The culture that runs through the city locals is truly special and something that you have to personally experience to understand its unique identity.”

During her four years at Tulane starting in 2018, Singh was recognized multiple times on the Southland Bowling League Academic Honor Roll and received honors such as American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022. In competition, she achieved a career-high score of 256 against Texas Southern and witnessed her teammate bowl the program’s first-ever perfect game. Outside athletics, she founded TedxTulane.

After graduating from Tulane in 2022, Singh attended law school at the University of Michigan before passing the Florida bar exam. She described her legal career as a “personality match” and said, “The profession is just so flexible and rewarding if you let it be, and that’s what makes it special.” Reflecting on her experience as a student-athlete at Tulane she added: “It is a blessing to be a D-I athlete…if you ever find that things are starting to get difficult or that your love for the game is fading…let yourself bask in the fact that this is all a part of an amazing journey that will continue long after you throw your last bowling ball.” She also encouraged current students not to hesitate reaching out for advice: “A degree can stretch beyond its four corners if you let it…the Tulane alumni community is very kind and will most likely be willing to offer a helping hand beyond what you expect!”

Singh continues to represent both Tulane University and Green Wave bowling among its growing network of alumni.
