Tulane University’s men’s basketball team will face Rice University at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon. The Green Wave are seeking their fourth consecutive win and currently have a 9-6 home record, including 2-4 in conference play.

The matchup marks the 55th meeting between Tulane and Rice, with Tulane leading the series 30-24. The Green Wave have won six straight games against the Owls, including a sweep last season. At home, Tulane holds a 20-8 advantage over Rice and has not lost to them in Uptown since January 14, 2012.

In their most recent game, Tulane overcame a 15-point deficit to defeat North Texas 77-71 on February 19. Five players scored in double figures, led by Rowan Brumbaugh with 17 points and Asher Woods with 16. “The Green Wave secured the victory with an 8-0 run that was highlight by the go-ahead put-back layup by Tyler Ringgold with 1:33 to play.” In addition, Woods contributed four points in the final minute to help secure the win.

During its current three-game winning streak, Tulane is averaging a margin of victory of six points and holding opponents to an average of 63.7 points per game. The team has also limited opposing teams to just over 35 percent shooting from the field and less than 22 percent from three-point range. Offensively, Asher Woods and Rowan Brumbaugh have led scoring for Tulane during this stretch.

Rice enters Sunday’s contest with an overall record of 11-15 and a conference record of 5-8 after losing at East Carolina on February 14. On the road this season, Rice has gone 3-7 and averages about 67 points per game while allowing more than 78 points per game to opponents.

Trae Broadnax leads Rice in scoring (16.2), rebounds (5.4), and assists (3.3) per game.

After facing Rice, Tulane will host Tulsa on Wednesday, February 25 at Devlin Fieldhouse.
