Tulane men’s basketball ended its five-game winning streak with a 69–82 loss to UAB on Wednesday night at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The defeat marked Tulane’s first conference loss of the season and dropped their record to 12–5 overall, 3–1 in conference play.
The Green Wave struggled defensively in the second half and could not overcome a halftime deficit. With this result, Tulane now holds a 14–28 all-time record against UAB, including an 8–12 mark at home. The loss also ended both their five-game overall winning streak and a four-game home win streak.
Rowan Brumbaugh and Asher Woods each scored 16 points for Tulane. Brumbaugh added six assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Tyler Ringgold contributed 12 points—all in the second half—making five of his six shots from the field and hitting two three-pointers to match his career high.
Tulane fell behind early but managed to tie the game at 8–8 after a timeout. They took their first lead with a seven-point run before UAB responded, eventually leading by ten at halftime (38–29).
The Green Wave started strong after the break with a 13–0 run to take a four-point lead. Both teams exchanged leads until midway through the second half when UAB went on a decisive scoring run that put them ahead by double digits with less than four minutes remaining.
Despite efforts to close the gap, Tulane was unable to generate enough defensive stops late in the game and lost by thirteen points.
Looking ahead, Tulane will host North Texas on Sunday, January 18 at 4 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN2.
