Tulane men’s basketball lost to North Texas 63-71 on Sunday at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave attempted to come back from a 13-point deficit in the second half but could not take the lead, despite narrowing the gap to two points twice late in the game.

This result marks Tulane’s fifth consecutive loss to North Texas and brings their all-time record against the Mean Green to 2-5.

Rowan Brumbaugh led Tulane with 22 points, reaching double figures for the 17th time this season and posting his sixth game with at least 20 points. He also recorded seven rebounds and two assists. Curtis Williams Jr. added 15 points, making five three-pointers along with three assists and two steals. This was Williams’ 12th double-digit scoring game of the season and his second with at least five made threes.

The first half saw both teams trading leads six times before North Texas went on an eight-point run that put them ahead by double digits with just over five minutes left before halftime. KJ Greene and Williams each hit a three-pointer in the final minute of the first half, sending Tulane into halftime trailing 30-35.

North Texas extended its lead early in the second half, putting Tulane down by as many as 13 points with under fourteen minutes remaining. Tulane responded by slowly reducing the deficit, going on an eight-point run that brought them within two at 56-58 with just over five minutes left. However, North Texas quickly answered with a three-pointer, and Tulane was unable to regain momentum before ultimately falling short.

Tulane will next play Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton on January 21 at 6 p.m. CT; coverage will be available on ESPN+.
