Tulane men’s basketball experienced its fifth consecutive loss on Wednesday, falling to South Florida 97-83 at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The defeat brings Tulane’s record to 12-9 overall and 3-5 in conference play, while South Florida improved to 14-7 and 6-2.

South Florida’s dominance on the offensive glass played a key role, as they outscored Tulane by 26 points in second-chance opportunities. This marks the first time since 2020 that Tulane has lost to South Florida at home and drops their home record against the Bulls to 13-9. It is also Tulane’s first five-game losing streak since late 2024.

All five Green Wave starters scored in double figures. Asher Woods and Tyler Ringgold led with 14 points each, with Ringgold hitting a career-high three three-pointers. Rowan Brumbaugh and Curtis Williams Jr. both contributed 12 points; Brumbaugh added six rebounds and five assists, while Williams made four three-point shots.

Luke Rasmussen, making his first career start, finished with a personal best of 11 points in 38 minutes and matched his career highs with three steals and two blocks.

South Florida established an early lead, but Tulane responded with an 18-6 run to briefly go ahead by four points midway through the first half. However, a subsequent 20-2 run by South Florida put Tulane behind by double digits for the remainder of the game. At halftime, Tulane trailed 52-39.

In the second half, South Florida extended its lead to as much as 25 points before Tulane narrowed the margin late in the game.

Tulane will next play on the road against Memphis on Sunday, February 1 at 2 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN2.
