Tulane University’s men’s tennis team took an early advantage by winning the doubles point but ultimately lost 5-2 to No. 43-ranked Middle Tennessee on March 29.
The match saw Tulane secure victories in two of the three doubles matches, with Hady ElKordy and Asaf Friedler winning at No. 1 and Piotr Andrzejewski and Alec Gaudin taking the win at No. 2. Despite this strong start, Tulane was unable to maintain momentum in singles play, dropping five out of six matches.
Middle Tennessee improved its overall record to 19-7 with the victory, while Tulane’s record fell to 6-10. The Green Wave played without Daniel Phillips, who typically competes at No. 1 singles and doubles for the team.
In singles competition, Andrzejewski secured Tulane’s only win with a straight-set victory (7-5, 7-6) at No. 4 singles, marking his third consecutive singles win.
The result highlights challenges for Tulane as it continues its season without key player Phillips and looks ahead to upcoming matches.
