Tulane men’s tennis falls to Memphis 4-1 in weekend opener

The Tulane men’s tennis team lost to No. 62 Memphis by a score of 4-1 on March 27 in its first match of the weekend.

The result leaves Tulane with a season record of 6-9, while Memphis improved to an even 10-10. The match took place in Memphis, Tennessee.

Alec Gaudin secured the only point for Tulane with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles, defeating his opponent 6-4, 6-3. In doubles play, Memphis clinched the opening point by winning matches at the second and third positions with scores of 6-3 and 6-1 respectively.

In singles competition, Moritz Kudernatsch from Memphis defeated Daniel Phillips of Tulane at No.1 singles (7-5, 6-2), while Obrad Markovski won against Hady ElKordy (6-0, 6-3) and Keoni Puig McCallan beat Andres Delgadillo (6-4, 6-2). Some matches remained unfinished as the Tigers secured victory before all contests concluded.

Tulane is scheduled to complete its road trip on Sunday against No.43 Middle Tennessee at noon. The Blue Raiders currently hold a record of 17 wins and seven losses this season.

Looking ahead, Tulane will aim to improve its performance as it continues through the remainder of its schedule.
