Tulane University’s men’s tennis team defeated the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) 4-3 on Apr. 9 at the UAB Tennis Complex.
The win brings Tulane’s season record to 7-10, matching that of UAB. The match was closely contested, with doubles play setting the tone for Tulane’s victory.
Daniel Phillips and Lance Nisbet, ranked No. 35 nationally as a doubles pair, secured the first doubles win for Tulane. Hady ElKordy and Asaf Friedler followed by clinching the overall doubles point for the Green Wave. In singles competition, after a retirement by UAB at the No. 1 position gave Tulane an early edge, Alec Gaudin and Piotr Andrzejewski added two more points to secure the team’s overall victory.
The detailed results show that while Tulane took key wins in both singles and doubles play, several matches were tightly contested or unfinished due to retirements or tiebreakers.
Looking ahead, Tulane will host its final home match of the season against No. 63 South Florida on Sunday at Goldring Tennis Center. South Florida enters with a season record of 9-13.
