Tulane University’s women’s basketball team will face North Texas at The Super Pit in Denton, Texas, on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and will be available to watch on ESPN+ or listened to on WRBH 88.3 FM and the Varsity Network App.

This marks the 10th meeting between Tulane and North Texas. While Tulane leads the all-time series 6-3, North Texas has won the last two games, including a 69-64 victory earlier this season in New Orleans. In that matchup, Mecailin Marshall led Tulane with 20 points and 10 rebounds, achieving her first career double-double. Tulane has only one win in Denton, which came in 2011.

North Texas enters the game with a record of 13-11 overall and a 7-5 mark in American Athletic Conference play. The Mean Green are coming off a narrow loss to Rice and currently average 70 points per game while shooting just over 40 percent from the field. Megan Nestor leads North Texas in scoring (13.0 points per game), rebounding (13.8), and steals (1.6). Aysia Proctor shares the scoring lead, while Andi Schissler averages nearly two assists per contest.

Tulane holds an overall record of 8-15 and is 3-8 in conference play after dropping its last five games, most recently losing to East Carolina by four points at home. The Green Wave averages 67.2 points per game and shoots just over 40 percent from the floor. Kanija Daniel leads Tulane with an average of 11.5 points per game; Marshall (10.3) and Amira Mabry (10.1) also score in double figures.

Mabry recently became the program’s 33rd player to reach 1,000 career points during a February 7 contest against South Florida.

Marshall set a new personal best against East Carolina by scoring 34 points—the highest single-game total by a Tulane freshman since at least 1999, as well as the highest by any bench player for Tulane since then. This performance is among the top six nationally for freshmen this season and is currently the highest-scoring output by a freshman in the American Athletic Conference.

After facing North Texas, Tulane will continue its road trip with back-to-back games against Memphis next week—first away on February 17 before returning home for another matchup on February 19.
