Tulane University sailing finished seventh out of 16 teams in the 2026 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Team Race National Championship on Lake Pontchartrain, according to an April 25 announcement. The Green Wave posted an 11-11 record, marking its best finish in the team race championship since becoming a varsity sport in 2018.
The result is significant for Tulane’s program as it continues to build its presence at the national level. Achieving a top-eight finish and advancing into the second round reflects progress for the team since gaining varsity status.
The Green Wave was led by skippers Kelly Holthus, Christian Ebbin, Hamilton Barclay, and Tate Christopher. Crew members paired with each skipper included Jonah Wozniak with Holthus, Sabrina Anderson with Ebbin, Taylor Bartell with Barclay, and Hope Breslin with Christopher. Over two days of racing during the opening round of competition on Thursday and Friday, Tulane recorded an 8-7 record. The team secured wins against Roger Williams, College of Charleston, Navy, Boston College, Dartmouth, Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Coast Guard Academy, and Northwestern University to advance to the top eight.
In round two among the top eight teams on Friday afternoon, Tulane achieved a 3-4 mark. Victories came against Stanford University, Navy again, and Georgetown University. However, these results were not enough for Tulane to reach the final four.
Looking ahead for Tulane sailing is participation in the ICSA Women’s Team Race National Championship also on Lake Pontchartrain from April 25-26. Fans can follow along by watching live or tracking live results online.
