Tulane University sailing completed its spring regular season road competitions with appearances at the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race in New London, Connecticut, and the Truxtun Umsted Open Fleet Race in Annapolis, Maryland, according to an April 12 announcement.
These events mark the end of Tulane’s away regattas for the season. The results reflect both team and individual performances as they prepare for upcoming home competitions.
At the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race, Tulane finished sixth out of sixteen teams with a record of nine wins and six losses. Skippers Kelly Holthus, Christian Ebbin, Hamilton Barclay, and Tate Christopher led the team alongside crews Parker Kumler, Jonah Wozniak, Sabrina Anderson, Skye Terrell, and Taylor Bartell. The Green Wave secured victories against MIT, Coast Guard, Connecticut College, Navy, Rhode Island, Tufts, Boston College, Dartmouth, and Yale over two days of racing.
In Annapolis at the Truxtun Umsted Open Fleet Race—an event featuring eighteen teams—Tulane placed eleventh overall with a total score of 250 points after two days. In A Division competition skipper Ava Anderson with crews Cate Anderson and Ella May Corckran placed fourth in their division by earning 99 points across fourteen races that included three first-place finishes. In B Division races skipper Gabriela Vassel competed with Caitlin Briggs and Charlotte Casey while Oakley Cunningham sailed with Hope Breslin; together they finished fifteenth in their division after fourteen races totaling 151 points.
Looking ahead to next week’s schedule for Tulane sailing is hosting duties at home on Lake Pontchartrain for the SESIA Fleet Race Conference Championships set for April 18-19.
