Tulane University sailing finished second and third in two separate regattas over the weekend, according to a March 22 announcement. The Green Wave secured second place at the Blaire Herron Memorial Women’s Team Race in Washington, D.C., and third place at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race in Norfolk, Virginia.
These results highlight Tulane’s continued competitiveness in collegiate sailing events. The team faced strong competition from other universities and managed to achieve top-three finishes at both venues.
At the Blaire Herron Memorial Women’s Team Race hosted by Georgetown, Tulane’s women’s team posted a 6-4 record, finishing second among eight teams. The team earned two victories over Dartmouth as well as wins against Cornell, Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Old Dominion, and St. Mary’s College. Skippers Oakley Cunningham, Ava Anderson, and Lola Kohl led the effort with crews Caroline Caudron, Ella May Corckran, and Skye Terrell.
Meanwhile, at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Tulane placed third out of ten teams with a 9-4 record. The Green Wave collected two wins over Navy along with victories against Dartmouth, Eckerd College, Fordham University, George Washington University, Old Dominion University, University of Rhode Island, and Stanford University. Skippers Kelly Holthus, Christian Ebbin, and Hamilton Barclay competed alongside crews Jonah Wozniak, Sabrina Anderson, and Taylor Bartell.
Looking ahead, Tulane is scheduled to compete again on March 21-22 in regattas held in both Norfolk and Washington. The team will participate in the Szambecki Open Team Race hosted by Old Dominion and return to Georgetown for another edition of the Blaire Herron Women’s Team Race.
