Tulane University sailing recorded third and fourth place finishes at two separate regattas over the weekend, according to a March 15 announcement. The Green Wave team placed third at the Charleston Women’s Team Race in Charleston, South Carolina, and took fourth at the Southern New England Open Team Race in New London, Connecticut.
These results highlight Tulane’s performance on the road as they competed against other collegiate teams. The events provided opportunities for both women’s and co-ed squads to test their skills against strong competition.
At the Charleston Women’s Team Race, hosted by College of Charleston, Tulane’s women’s team posted a 5-11 record to secure third place among five teams. The team achieved three victories over Old Dominion and two wins over Coast Guard. Skippers Ashley Hoguet, Sophia Dias, Lola Kohl, and Eliza Corral led the effort with crews Megan Cassidy, Caitlin Briggs, Martha Hughes, and Skye Terrell.
In New London at the Southern New England Open Team Race hosted by Connecticut College, Tulane finished fourth out of eight teams with a 6-6 record. The Green Wave earned two wins over MIT and one each against Connecticut College, Tufts, Yale, and Roger Williams. Skippers Tate Christopher, Ryan Ehnot, John Wood, Matheo Capasso, and Alejo Di Blasi sailed alongside crews Parker Kumler, Hope Breslin, Sophia Adams, Claire Lewis, and Sloane Mullin.
Looking ahead to next weekend on March 21-22, Tulane will compete in two more regattas: the Szambecki Open Team Race hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia; and the Blaire Herron Women’s Team Race hosted by Georgetown in Washington D.C.
The upcoming competitions will offer further opportunities for Tulane sailors to build on their recent performances.
