The Tulane University sailing team announced on April 14 that it has secured automatic bids as the SEISA conference champions to the 2026 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open and Women’s Team Race National Championships. Both championships will be hosted by Tulane on Lake Pontchartrain from April 23 to April 27.
This development is significant for Tulane, as earning these bids reflects the team’s strong performance within their conference and provides an opportunity to compete at a national level in both open and women’s categories.
According to the announcement, the women’s team is one of twelve teams set to compete in the ICSA Women’s Team Race National Championship. Tulane was among six teams that received an automatic qualifier for this event and is noted as the only SEISA conference team with a bid. Last season, Tulane’s women’s team finished sixth in this championship.
The open team will also participate in its respective national championship, joining fifteen other teams. Again, Tulane was the sole representative from SEISA among six automatic qualifiers for this competition. The Green Wave finished eighth in last year’s ICSA Open Team Race Championship.
Competition will begin with the open championship from April 23 through April 25, followed by the women’s championship from April 26 through April 27 on Lake Pontchartrain.
