The Tulane University sailing team earned automatic bids as SEISA conference champions to the 2026 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open and Women’s Team Race National Championships, according to an April 14 announcement. The Green Wave will host both championships on Lake Pontchartrain from April 23-27.
This achievement allows Tulane’s women’s team to compete as one of twelve teams in the ICSA Women’s Team Race National Championship. Tulane was one of six teams nationwide to secure an automatic qualifier for this event and is the only SEISA conference representative. Last season, the Green Wave women’s team finished sixth in this championship.
For the open division, Tulane’s team will be among sixteen represented at the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship. Again, Tulane is the sole SEISA conference school with a bid and was one of six teams awarded an automatic qualifier. The Green Wave placed eighth in last year’s open championship.
Both championships will take place on Lake Pontchartrain, beginning with the open championship from April 23-25, followed by the women’s championship from April 26-27.
Looking ahead, hosting these national events highlights Tulane’s role within collegiate sailing and offers their student-athletes a chance to compete at home against top programs.
