Tulane University announced on May 14 that its sailing team will compete in the 2026 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Fleet Race National Championships, starting Friday, May 15, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Green Wave will participate in both the women’s and open championships hosted by South Florida on Tampa Bay.

The event is significant as it brings together top collegiate sailing teams from across the country. Tulane’s participation as an automatic qualifier highlights its strong performance during the season.

Racing for the women’s championship is scheduled from May 15 to May 18, with competition beginning for Tulane in the western semifinals on Friday and Saturday. The open championship will follow from May 19 to May 22, with semifinals taking place Tuesday and Wednesday of that week. In each semifinal round, eighteen teams will race across two divisions (A & B) over fourteen rotations on the water. After two days of racing, the top nine teams will advance to their respective national finals.

Tulane enters both championships as one of twelve automatic qualifiers representing the SEISA conference. For the women’s fleet race championship, Tulane is seeded tenth overall and will compete against seventeen other schools in its semifinal bracket. In the open fleet race championship, Tulane is seeded eighth overall as SEISA Conference champions among a field of thirty-six teams.

Live results for each round are available online for fans following along with Tulane’s progress throughout both championships.
