Tulane University announced on Apr. 18 that its sailing team won both the open and women’s titles at the SEISA Fleet Race Conference Championships held Saturday on Lake Pontchartrain. The Green Wave finished first or second in all but one race across the two regattas, marking their sixth consecutive sweep of these conference championships.
The achievement highlights Tulane’s continued dominance in collegiate sailing within their conference. Winning both divisions demonstrates depth and consistency across the program.
In the open fleet race championship, Tulane competed against teams from Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, and Texas A&M – Galveston. The Green Wave finished with a total of 25 points—64 points ahead of the next closest team—over eight rotations. The A Division was led by skipper Hamilton Barclay and crew Taylor Bartell who started strong with multiple first-place finishes. Skipper Kelly Hotlhus paired with Jonah Wozniak for another win before John Wood and Hope Breslin secured victories in the final races.
The B Division contributed to Tulane’s success with skippers Christian Ebbin, Tate Christopher, Ryan Ehnot, and Matheo Capasso racing alongside crews Sabrina Anderson and Hope Breslin. Ebbin and Anderson opened with a win while Christopher and Breslin added more first-place results to secure division points.
In the women’s championship event that followed, Tulane again dominated by earning only nine points through three rotations. Ava Anderson with Ella May Corckran won two races in A Division before Ashley Hoguet teamed up with Megan Cassidy for another victory. In B Division action, Gabriela Vassel raced alongside Charlotte Casey for two second-place finishes; Cate Anderson joined Corckran to close out competition in the third rotation.
Looking ahead, Tulane will host the ICSA Team Race National Championships on Lake Pontchartrain from April 23-27.
