The Tulane indoor track and field team is set to participate in two meets this weekend, with athletes competing at both the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston and the Music City Challenge in Nashville. The events are scheduled for Friday, February 13, and Saturday, February 14, hosted by Boston University and Vanderbilt University respectively.

Tulane will send its men’s and women’s distance runners to Boston, where they will compete in events including the 800 meters, mile, 3,000 meters, and 5,000 meters. Men’s races are slated for Friday while women’s races follow on Saturday. The competition at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center will be available for streaming on FloTrack.

Meanwhile, a group of women’s field athletes and short-distance runners from Tulane will head to Nashville. They will participate in high jump, weight throw, pole vault, shot put, triple jump, as well as sprinting events such as the 60 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and the 4×400 meter relay. The meet at Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility can be watched live on SECN+.

Earlier this season at these same venues, Tulane athletes achieved notable results. In Boston during the John Thomas Terrier Classic, Blezzin Kimutai set a new school record in the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 16:00.94. Bernard Cheruiyot also broke the men’s program record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 7:49.26. At their last appearance in Nashville’s Vanderbilt Invitational, Zaria Parker won the women’s 200 meters with a personal best of 24.27 seconds while Cara Salsberry recorded a third-place finish in weight throw with her mark ranking second-best all-time for Tulane.

Last weekend at the Badger Windy City Invitational saw Presley Wolfe place second in pole vault after achieving a personal best of 4.05 meters—ranking sixth all-time for Tulane—and ten athletes finishing among the top ten across their respective events.

Looking ahead after this weekend’s competitions in Boston and Nashville, Tulane plans to conclude its indoor regular season at LSU Twilight on February 20 before shifting focus to the American Conference Indoor Championship scheduled for February 27-28 in Birmingham.

Tickets for upcoming sports seasons can be purchased through phone or online platforms provided by Tulane Athletics.
