Tulane University’s swimming and diving team achieved notable results on the third day of the American Conference Championships held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina. The team is currently ranked fifth overall with 646.5 points after Friday’s events.
Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou tied for second place in the 200 butterfly, recording a time of 1:58.61 and earning 27.50 points for Tulane. In the same event, Phoebe Johnson finished in 13th place, contributing 14 points to the team’s total.
The Green Wave’s 800 freestyle relay team—composed of Lise Coetzee, Andrea Zeebe, Johnson, and Rafaela Sumida—secured third place with a time of 7:16.10, adding 54 points to Tulane’s score.
Andrea Zeebe also placed tenth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.43 seconds, earning another 17 points for Tulane. Marin Shimkus followed closely behind in eleventh place with a time of 54.53 seconds and contributed an additional 16 points.
In the breaststroke events, Ebba Holgersson finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.85), bringing in 33 points for her performance. Paula Gaya Bisquerra took ninth place with a time of 1:02.63 and earned Tulane another 20 points.
On the diving side, Taylor Cekay led Tulane by finishing thirteenth in the three-meter event with a score of 247.75, which was worth twelve team points. Libby Brewer finished twenty-second with a score of 237.50 and added three more points to Tulane’s tally.
Tulane has now seen four athletes earn medals through three days of competition at this year’s championships.
The final day of competition will take place on Saturday, February 21st, beginning at 9:30 a.m., featuring swimming preliminaries as well as platform diving preliminaries at 10 a.m., followed by finals later that afternoon and evening.
