The Tulane University sailing program announced on Apr. 22 that it will host the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Team Race National Championships from April 23 to 27 at the Southern Yacht Club, with races taking place on Lake Pontchartrain.
This event is significant as it brings together top collegiate sailing teams from across the country for both open and women’s team race championships. The open championship will run from Thursday through Saturday, followed by the women’s championship on Sunday and Monday.
Tulane secured its place in both competitions after winning Southeastern Intercollegiate Sailing Association conference titles in team racing this spring. The Green Wave will compete among 16 teams in the open championship and is one of 15 teams entered in the women’s championship.
Participating schools include Boston College, Brown, College of Charleston, Dartmouth College, Georgetown, Harvard, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Northwestern, Roger Williams University, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Stanford University, Tufts University, Tulane University itself, University of Pennsylvania or Michigan (depending on division), U.S. Coast Guard Academy or Yale (depending on division), and U.S. Naval Academy for the open field.
Fans can purchase official ICSA Team Race National Championship gear online and watch live coverage starting Friday via the ICSA YouTube channel. Additional updates are available through Tulane Athletics’ mobile app and social media channels.
