The Tulane track and field team began its participation at the Badger Windy City Invitational in Chicago, hosted by Wisconsin at Gately Stadium. The first day saw strong performances from several athletes, with Presley Wolfe standing out by finishing second in the pole vault. Wolfe achieved a personal best of 4.05 meters, which places her sixth in program history for the event.

Cassidy Allen of Akron narrowly took first place in the pole vault, just ahead of Wolfe. In other events, Elena Liano-Rengel set a new personal record in the mile invite with a time of 4:47.98, earning her sixth place overall and moving her into tenth on Tulane’s all-time list for that event.

Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas also posted a personal best in the women’s 400 meters with a time of 56.93 seconds to finish seventh. Marissa Gordon finished seventeenth in the same race with a time of 58.23 seconds. Cara Salsberry placed tenth in the weight throw invite with a mark of 17.09 meters.

All Tulane athletes finished within the top twenty in their respective events on Friday. Lee Harris was twentieth in the men’s 60 meters prelims with a time of 6.92 seconds, while Zaria Parker ran 7.61 seconds to finish nineteenth in the women’s 60 meters prelims. In the men’s 400 meters, Alexander Montoro placed seventeenth (51.12 seconds) and Andrew Bamberg followed closely behind at eighteenth (51.36 seconds).

Competition will continue Saturday with Tulane athletes scheduled to compete in several additional events including sprints, distance races, throws, jumps and relays.

“Tulane Athletics provides student-athletes with resources needed to excel both on and off the field,” according to information provided by Green Wave Club representatives.
