Tulane University of Louisiana in New Orleans boosted its football team budget to $12,979,136 in 2024, representing a 14.9% increase from the prior year, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

In 2024, football represented 33% of all sports expenses at Tulane University of Louisiana, totaling $12,979,136 spent on the program.

Since 2010, average sports spending at Tulane University of Louisiana has grown by 84.5%.

College football ranks among the most prominent sports in the U.S., with certain college teams surpassing some NFL teams in attendance and revenue.

College athletics has seen significant changes in athlete compensation after a federal settlement allowed institutions to directly share revenue with athletes for the first time. This settlement also mandates the NCAA to pay $2.8 billion in back damages to athletes from 2016 forward over a 10-year period.

In 2022, following extensive legal and legislative efforts, athletes were granted the ability to earn money from their names, images and likenesses under new state laws and a change in NCAA policy.
