Sophomore Francesca Pompa led Tulane University’s women’s golf team at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational, securing third place individually. The event took place in Humacao, Puerto Rico, and featured a 54-hole format. Tulane finished sixth overall with a team score of 910 (+46).
Pompa recorded under-par scores in her final two rounds and completed the tournament with an even-par total of 216 (75, 70, 71). She made 13 birdies during the event and posted the best cumulative score on par five holes at seven under par.
Cristina Albertazzi improved her standing by five places during the last round to tie for 29th. She ended with a three-round score of 230 (+14), recording rounds of 78, 78, and 74. Albertazzi led Tulane in pars with a total of 36.
Gabriella Gilrowski tied for 31st after shooting rounds of 74, 79, and 78 for a total score of 231 (+15). She averaged fewer than three strokes per hole on par threes and collected six birdies.
Sophia Chen finished in 40th place with scores of 81, 77, and 77 for a total of 235 (+19). Tonka Zacharovska rounded out Tulane’s lineup at the event in 44th place after posting rounds of 79, 86, and 88 for a combined score of 253 (+37).
Tulane will next compete at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational hosted by TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. The tournament is scheduled for March 23-24.
