Tulane University’s women’s basketball team is set to play against Rice University in Houston, with the game time moved up to 1:00 p.m. due to expected severe weather. The match will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and can also be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM and through the Varsity Network App.

This contest marks the 33rd meeting between Tulane and Rice, with Tulane currently leading the series 18-14. Since Rice joined the American Athletic Conference for the 2023-24 season, they have won two of their last three games against Tulane. Last year, each team won an away game in their matchups.

Rice enters the game with a record of 16-3 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 6-0. The Owls are currently on an eleven-game winning streak and have not lost at home this season, standing at 8-0. Dominique Ennis leads Rice with an average of 12.9 points per game and a steals average of 1.8, while Hailey Adams averages nearly eleven rebounds per game along with almost four assists. Lindsay Edmonds is in her fifth year as head coach, holding a career record of 88-57.

Tulane holds an overall record of 8-10 this season and is even in conference play at 3-3 after securing a second consecutive win over UAB last Saturday by a score of 73-68. The Green Wave has a scoring average identical to Rice at 70.1 points per game but shoots slightly better from the field at 41.3 percent compared to Rice’s 39.1 percent.

Kanija Daniel leads Tulane in scoring with an average of 11.9 points per game, supported by Amira Mabry (10.7) and Mecailin Marshall (10.4). Dyllan Hanna leads the team in rebounding with an average of 7.2 per game, ranking tenth in the conference.

Earlier this week, Shiloh Kimpson was named American Freshman of the Week after posting career-high performances including her first double-digit scoring effort and first two three-pointers made during recent games against Temple and UAB respectively; Kanija Daniel received honorable mention recognition for her contributions.

Following their matchup against Rice, Tulane will continue its road trip next week facing Memphis.

Tickets for all major sports events can be purchased via phone or online through TulaneTix.com or directly at the James W. Wilson Jr. Center ticket office.

“Shiloh Kimpson was tabbed as American Freshman of the Week with Daniel securing an honorable mention nod.”

“Kimpson became the second Wave freshman honored this season, joining Marshall.”

“This was Daniel’s second honorable mention recognition of the campaign.”

“Kimpson had a breakout week after posting a career-high 11 points at Temple, her first game ever in double figures.”

“She then added 10 points against UAB with her first two three-pointers alongside a career-best five assists.”
