Tulane women’s basketball narrowly lost to Charlotte, 47-44, in a defensive game at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Wednesday night. The Green Wave now holds an 8-13 record overall and is 3-6 in American Athletic Conference play, while Charlotte improves to 10-13 (4-6 American).

Tulane had a higher shooting percentage than Charlotte, finishing at 34.6 percent compared to the 49ers’ 31.3 percent. Tulane also made one more three-pointer than Charlotte, with four to their opponent’s three. However, Charlotte led in rebounding with a total of 43 boards, including a significant advantage on offensive rebounds at 22-13.

Turnovers played a key role in the outcome. Tulane committed 21 turnovers and forced only 14 from Charlotte, resulting in the Niners outscoring Tulane in points off turnovers by a margin of 17-10.

Dyllan Hanna and Jayda Brown were Tulane’s top scorers with 14 points each; Brown achieved her career high on six-of-nine shooting and made two three-pointers. Hanna was perfect from the field and free throw line and tied for the team lead with six rebounds alongside Amira Mabry. Shiloh Kimpson contributed four assists for Tulane.

The game remained close throughout, but late turnovers hindered Tulane’s chances for a comeback after Mecailin Marshall brought them within two points with less than a minute remaining.

Tulane will next travel to Tampa, Florida to face South Florida this weekend. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
