The Tulane women’s basketball team lost 86-77 in overtime to Temple on March 10 in the first round of the 2026 American Basketball Championship at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The Green Wave, seeded tenth, ended their season with an 11-20 record, while seventh-seeded Temple improved to 15-16 and advanced to the second round.
The game was marked by a strong comeback from Tulane, who trailed by 14 points at halftime. Kanija Daniel hit a crucial three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime. Despite shooting better overall than Temple—40.4 percent compared to Temple’s 32.4 percent—the Green Wave were outscored from beyond the arc, with Temple making twelve three-pointers to Tulane’s four. Both teams shot well from the free throw line, each converting over eighty-four percent of their attempts.
Mecailin Marshall led Tulane with twenty-five points and went eleven-for-eleven from the free throw line. She also contributed four rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Senior Amira Mabry scored thirteen points in her final collegiate game, finishing her career with 1,083 points—twenty-third in program history. Daniel also scored thirteen points and Dyllan Hanna added eleven.
Tulane dominated inside with thirty-eight paint points compared to eighteen for Temple but struggled with turnovers and offensive rebounds. The Owls had a forty-seven to thirty-eight advantage on the boards and collected twenty-three offensive rebounds.
The loss ends Tulane’s season after its twenty-first consecutive appearance in a conference tournament. The team is scheduled to return for the next campaign starting in November.
