Tulane University’s women’s basketball team will host Wichita State on Saturday at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and broadcast on WRBH 88.3 FM as well as the Varsity Network App.
This matchup marks the 18th meeting between Tulane and Wichita State, with Tulane leading the series 10-7. Tulane has won the last four games against Wichita State, including a 70-60 win earlier this season in Wichita. The Shockers have not won at Tulane since February 16, 2020.
Wichita State enters the game with a season record of 7-21 overall and a conference record of 4-11. The Shockers recently secured a win over UAB in Birmingham, Alabama, and average 60.7 points per game with a shooting percentage of 38.8%. Abby Cater leads Wichita State in scoring and steals while tying for rebounds with Jaida McDonald; Taya Davis leads in assists.
Tulane holds a record of 10-17 overall and is 5-10 in conference play after losing to Tulsa earlier this week. The Green Wave averages 65.6 points per game and shoots at a rate of nearly 40 percent from the field. They rank fourth in the conference for rebounds (39.3 per game) and third for assists (14.4 per game). Kanija Daniel leads Tulane in scoring; Dyllan Hanna is top rebounder and ranks tenth in the league; Kendall Sneed leads in assists for Tulane and ranks sixth within the conference.
Hanna and Daniel are among the top blockers in their league—third and fourth respectively—making Tulane the only team with two players ranked among the top five for blocks. Daniel also ranks twentieth for steals per game, making her unique within her conference by ranking both high in blocks and within the top twenty for steals.
Saturday’s contest will also serve as Senior Day, honoring six senior student-athletes: Kayla Hampton, Dyllan Hanna, Amira Mabry, CC Mays, Jordyn Weaver, and Jaylee Womack before tip-off.
Amira Mabry currently has scored 1,045 career points as part of Tulane’s “1,000 points club.” She is three points away from surpassing head coach Ashley Langford on Tulane’s all-time scoring list. CC Mays stands at 980 career points and needs just twenty more to reach one thousand.
The final week of regular season play follows next week when Tulane travels to Florida Atlantic on Tuesday before returning home to host South Florida on Saturday.
