Tulane University’s women’s basketball team secured a 73-68 victory over UAB on Saturday at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The win marks Tulane’s first comeback of the season after trailing at the end of three quarters, improving their record to 8-10 overall and 3-3 in American Athletic Conference play. UAB fell to 7-11 and remains winless in conference games.
The game was closely contested, featuring 18 lead changes and eight ties. Neither team led by more than six points throughout the match. Tulane outperformed UAB on rebounds, finishing with a 42-30 advantage, including a 14-6 edge on offensive boards that resulted in 17 second-chance points compared to UAB’s four. Tulane also held a significant lead in points scored in the paint (38-22) and drew more fouls, converting free throws at a rate of 75 percent.
Five Tulane players scored in double figures. Amira Mabry led with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Dyllan Hanna recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds. Jayda Brown contributed 11 points, while Kanija Daniel and Shiloh Kimpson each added ten points; Daniel matched her career best with seven rebounds, and Kimpson posted a career-high five assists.
The decisive moment came late in the fourth quarter when Mecailin Marshall hit a three-pointer with less than a minute remaining to give Tulane the lead. Kendall Sneed followed up with a key steal and converted two free throws to help secure the win.
With this result, Tulane has achieved back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The team will have a break before traveling to Houston next week for a game against Rice University.
