Tulane women’s bowling advances as No.14 seed after strong Music City Classic performance

No. 17 Tulane secured four wins on the second day of the Music City Classic at Smyrna Bowling Center in Tennessee, closing out the qualifying rounds with a 4-1 record. The team achieved two victories over ranked opponents and will enter the bracket stage as the No. 14 seed.

The Green Wave began Saturday with a win against No. 5 Louisiana Tech, finishing 1,045-951. They continued their success by defeating No. 13 McKendree 1,007-887 and then Fairleigh Dickinson 903-859. Their only loss came against Wisconsin-Whitewater, who won 963-918. Tulane ended the day with an 883-780 victory over Prairie View A&M.

Valeria Colon led Tulane with a total of 993 pins and an average score of 198.60, placing her 39th overall. Paige Matiasek finished in 55th place with a total of 960 pins and an average of 192.00, while Mia Stolakis was close behind in 57th place with a pin tally of 954 and an average of 190.80. Sarah Rubi competed in all five matches, finishing in 106th place with a score of 850 and an average of 170.00. Linnea Holcomb participated in four matches, placing 121st with a total score of 800 and an average of 200.00. Emma Figert joined for the final match and scored a game-high of 199.

Over two days of qualifying play, Tulane posted a record of seven wins and three losses, including four victories over ranked teams—two within the top ten and one against a top-five opponent.

Bracket play is scheduled to begin Sunday, featuring three best-of-seven Baker matches starting with Tulane facing No.13 seed Youngstown State.
