Tulane women’s bowling wins SWIBC V; Holcomb claims individual title

Tulane University’s women’s bowling team began its spring season with a victory at the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (SWIBC) V tournament, held at Plano Super Bowl in Plano, Texas. The Green Wave finished first among eight teams, recording a total of 5,797 pins.

Linnea Holcomb led Tulane’s performance by winning the individual title with an overall score of 851 and an average of 212.75 pins per game. She bowled scores of 207, 212, 201, and 231 in her four games. “The Wave dominated with three of the top-four finishers as Valeria Colon and Juanelyz Solla placed third and fourth, respectively,” according to the release. Barton’s Tailynn Level finished second with a score of 807.

Valeria Colon contributed to Tulane’s success by placing third with a total score of 801 and an average of 200.25 pins per game. Her game scores were 243, 181, 144, and 233. Juanelyz Solla finished fourth for Tulane with a total score of 773 and an average of 193.25 pins per game.

Page Matiasek was just outside the all-tournament team honors by finishing sixth overall after scoring a total of 733 across her games for an average of 183.25 pins.

Other contributors included Lyllian Smith who finished in thirty-seventh place with a two-game average of 188.5 pins (scores:196-181), while Emma Fetterman was thirty-eighth with an average score of178.5 over two games (scores:184-173).

Tulane will continue its season tomorrow at SWIBC VI where they are scheduled to play six traditional games to conclude their opening weekend.
