Tulane women’s golf finished the opening day of the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational in 13th place on March 23, recording a team score of 612 (+52) through the first two rounds at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
The tournament is significant for Tulane as it provides an opportunity to compete against strong collegiate teams and gain experience ahead of future events. The Green Wave’s performance on Monday sets the stage for their final round.
Sophomore Francesca Pompa led Tulane with a two-round score of 150 (+10), tying her for 59th in the field. She opened with a round of 77 (+7), including one birdie, and followed up with a second-round score of 73 (+3) that featured two more birdies. Sophia Chen was next for Tulane, finishing with a total score of 151 (+11) after posting rounds of 74 (+4) and 77 (+7). Chen made one birdie in her first round and added two more in her second.
Cristina Albertazzi and Sophia Macias both completed Monday tied for 71st overall, each carding scores of 156 (+16). Albertazzi shot an opening round of 81 (+11) before improving to a second-round score of 75 (+5). Macias recorded scores of 76 (+6) and then an 80 (+10), collecting two birdies across both rounds. Gabriella Gilrowski rounded out Tulane’s lineup with a total score of 160 (+20), placing her at seventy-fifth overall after shooting identical rounds of eighty.
Tulane will return to Colonial Country Club on Tuesday morning for the third and final round. Gilrowski will start at hole ten at approximately nine forty a.m., followed by Macias, Albertazzi, Chen, and Pompa in ten-minute intervals.
