Tulane women’s golf tied for eighth after opening day at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

Tulane University’s women’s golf team is tied for eighth place after the first day of competition at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Georgia. The event features 15 teams. Tulane recorded a combined score of 491 (+18) after finishing the opening round with a 304 (+16).

During Friday’s play, all Tulane players completed at least 11 holes in the second round and finished the day two over par as a team so far in that round.

Francesca Pompa and Gabriella Gilrowski are leading Tulane’s individual efforts, both tied for sixth out of 80 participants. Pompa opened with a one-under-par 71 and ended Friday at even par, having played to one over through 12 holes in her second round. Gilrowski finished Friday also at even par overall, following an opening-round score of 75 (+3) and making three birdies through her first 12 holes in round two.

Sophia Chen was next for Tulane, standing in 14th place at two-over-par after playing 30 total holes. She began with a first-round score of 75 (+3) and was one under through her first 12 holes on Friday.

Tonka Zacharovska rounded out the lineup for Tulane, sitting in 75th position after shooting an initial round of 83 and being five over par through her first 11 holes in the second round.

Tulane will resume play Saturday to finish their second round before beginning the final third round.
