Tulane University’s women’s tennis team secured a 4-2 victory over Tulsa on Friday evening at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The win improved Tulane’s overall record to 3-4, while Tulsa dropped to 4-5.
The match began with doubles play, where all three contests ended with identical 6-4 scores. Tulane clinched the doubles point after Natalia Fantini and Natalia Perez won their match at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Campbell Ricci overcame a first-set loss to defeat Maria Santos at No. 1 singles by scores of 0-6, 6-1, 6-1. Summer Chandler also contributed with a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, which included a tiebreaker in the second set.
Micah Pierce secured the team victory for Tulane by winning her No. 5 singles match against Coral Valle in three sets: 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
The Green Wave will continue their road trip on Sunday with a match against Wichita State scheduled for 10 a.m. Wichita State currently holds an 8-3 record and is coming off its sixth consecutive win after defeating Kansas State.
